Tennis is another major sport in Vale Do Lobo, and the Vale Do Lobo Tennis Academy is the largest tennis centre in Portugal situated just two minutes from the beach, golf courses and 15 minutes from Faro International Airport.

The Academy comprises 10 all weather tennis courts and 4 synthetic courts as well as a mini-tennis and paddle tennis court. It hosts a number of International Tennis Fixtures throughout the year including an annual ATP Seniors Tour competition, the Vale do Lobo Grand Champions Caixa Geral de Depósitos, and the Portuguese Ladies´ Open. There is also a gym, swimming pool, sauna and steam room, pro shop and two restaurants overlooking the courts.

The Tennis Academy´s team of nine professional coaches is led by Pedro Frazão, who is recognised as the country´s top coach, and runs a busy year-round programme of individual and group coaching, tournaments and social events, for members and holidaymakers.

Throughout the year the costs for the courts are around €32 per hour. Coaching is also available with group lessons and private lessons on offer. For the keep fit fanatics there are a few options: all the hotels in Vale Do Lobo have their own gymnasiums, but if you are staying in a villa or apartment then you can either use the gym at the tennis club or head for Barringtons which also has a fully equipped gym, an indoor pool and a golf driving range.

Lastly in the busy summer months head down to the main beaches where you will find a number of watersports on offer.
