Vale do Lobo Car Hire

The decision on whether to rent a car for your holiday in Vale Do Lobo really comes down to what sort of holidays you enjoy and how many of you there are.

The resort of Vale Do Lobo is compact and although fairly spread out, not too large. The is an excellent Shuttle Bus the follows a route around the resort at regular intervals throughout the night and day and the local Taxi service is pretty good. Taxis from Faro Airport to Vale Do Lobo cost around €25 each way so you would already save €50 for a return trip to the airport and back.

If however, you are here to play golf and need to get to and from the courses each day then a hire car is a sensible option. We checked out some prices through Holiday Autos for September 2005 and found that the cost of a 4 door car for 1 week costs around 139 pounds (€195) for a driver aged 39. If you are here with the kids then having a hire car for also gives you that bit of freedom and the chance to take them out to the theme parks and stuff that can be found on the Algarve. Just outside Vale Do Lobo is a great Go-Kart track with a few other rides. You can find this track just outside Almancil, the nearest town.

You can also drive your rental car to number of other attractions along the Algarve such as the Algarve Zoo, Zoo Marine in Albufeira and the Atlantic Water Park near Loule. For me although it is not essential to have a Vale Do Lobo hire car to enjoy your holiday it certainly gives you a few more options at quite a good price.
